The C&G 2382-10 and 20 has been replaced by the City and Guilds 2382-12 course. The Reason the City and Guilds 2382 is being updated to the City and Guilds 2382-12 is the updating to reflect the updating of the BS 7671:2008 wiring regulations, which go from the 17th Edition, with no amendments, to the the 17th edition incoporating Amendment No 1 : 2011. The only 17th edition course to take is the 2382-12. All work carried out from January 2012 must comply with BS 7671:2008 incoporating amendment No1 :2011. The City and Guilds 2382-12 course is based on this amended set of standards. Any 2382 course whether 2382-10 or 2382-20 will be of no use and will need to be re written. This change in BS7671 has happened for a number of reasons, one of which is to bring the regulations more into line with the IEC Standards. The others, in summary, are to add a couple more special locations, remove some fuse rating that are now obsolete and the most important, in our opinion, is to change the periodic inspection to one called the Electrical installation condition report. This is the one needed for landlords to rent properties out and for surveys. More information on the IEC Even more information on the IEC and the various standards is again available form wikipedia this time the List of IEC standards As mentioned Earlier In this article the C&G 2382-12 will come in
